In addition to wills another important document is a Lasting Power of Attorney. This document gives other people the right to act on your behalf as if they were you but only when you do not have the mental capacity to make decisions yourself.

There are two types of LPA:

• Property and Affairs, this covers your financial affairs
• Personal Welfare, this covers your healthcare and personal welfare
